It’s been a long, lonely road for NHL players who were divorced in 2016.
But this year, the wives of some of them are getting the recognition they deserve.
For years, it’s been common knowledge that women are more likely to leave the NHL than men.
But, now, some women have made the leap.
And for the first time in the history of the league, one woman is leading the charge.
The New York Islanders’ Kimmo Timonen is a married mother of two and former world juniors champion.
Timonen, a Swedish star, and his wife, Yannicki Skellefteå, have been the subjects of numerous profiles in the past few years.
Their love story was one that was rarely told, but it wasn’t until they met that the truth about their marriage and their relationship became known.
The couple met at a hockey tournament in 2008 and started dating the next year.
In 2011, the two got married in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“It’s very difficult,” Timonen said.
“We had a great time, but we were just a little too old for each other.
So, I left my career.
I went to the NHL.
I left the hockey.
I came back to Sweden.
I just needed to leave.
I never thought that we would be married again.””
The two of us were a couple of very happy people.
I never thought that we would be married again.”
The couple had no children, but Timonen was married for 13 years and had four.
He said he was happy for them to share their journey with the world, especially when he was in his early 40s.
“I was a lot older, and we had a lot of time to look back and take the positives and take some lessons,” he said.
“When we were together, it was not a normal relationship.
There were some bad times.
I remember when I was in my 20s and he was 40, and I was very happy for him to go.
But I was a little sad that I couldn’t spend more time with him.
He was so good to me, so happy.
It made me sad.”
The couple was divorced in 2015, and Timonen had a second divorce in 2016, with his first divorce coming in 2011.
He got a second shot at life, but was again rejected by his wife.
“There was nothing else for me to do,” he recalled.
“So I took a chance.
I’m not married to him anymore, but I had to take a chance.”
So how did they come to this?
They were married in 2008, but the couple had already split in 2012.
They divorced the following year, and they were married again in 2016 before they had children.
Kimi and Yannik Skellemens have been together for 12 years, dating back to when they were teenagers in Sweden.
They have a 3-year-old daughter and a 2-year old son.
They both play hockey, but both have other passions.
“We both love music,” Kimmo said.
He had a couple CDs that he was playing and then started playing guitar.
“I was very excited.
I was like, ‘This is great.
“My parents always thought I was stupid, but that’s the thing about people: They don’t care. “
I wanted to show my dad what I had, and then he’s like, ok, we can give it to you. “

“And we would get a lot done. “
He played so much music, I would just sit and listen,” Kimmedos mom said.
“And we would get a lot done.
We would do the housework and I would take the kids for a walk.”
Timonen said he had a passion for skating and would ride his motorcycle.
But in 2016 it was more about family.
“After our daughter was born, I said I don’t want to live in a house anymore,” he recalls.
“That’s when he said, ‘I don’t have a house.
It was a tough decision, but Kimmo told his mother, who was pregnant at the time. “
The couple moved to the United States in 2016 and became parents in 2017.”

“You’re not happy when you have children.
I think that’s what we all do.
It takes a lot.
But at the end of the day, you’ve got to have happiness.
